Why smokes a gas stove from a gas cylinder

An indispensable attribute of any kitchen is a gas stove. But not everyone knows how dangerous this device is, with which it is necessary to work with increased attention. Due to continuous operation or production defects, the stove may become unusable. If you notice that the stove does not work well or it has broken, do not repair it yourself. Without certain knowledge, repair can lead to irreversible consequences. The most common type of breakdown is smoking. Let's see what it is and how to prevent this scourge.

If the flame coming from the gas stove is naturally blue and comes out of the burner evenly, then you should not worry, everything is fine with the stove. If the tongues of flame are red and yellow, and the gas flows unevenly, then the process of gas supply is definitely violated. The reddish shade of the flame indicates that the fuel is not completely burned, or there is not enough oxygen in the combustion process.

Important! If the tongues of flame become scarlet, then this promises the appearance of soot.

Most often, there are two main sources of soot:

  • low fuel quality;
  • pressure is higher or lower than normal.

Gas fuel contains a huge amount of mercaptan sulfur, which provides thick and black smoke. It means high pressure. Most often, such a breakdown occurs in stoves connected to a poor-quality cylinder with a reduced gas content.

But nevertheless, such an "ailment" is more often caused not by a high-quality cylinder, but also by a malfunction of the nodes, in particular, the burner.

Poor gas from a cylinder

If the bottled gas contains an admixture of sulfur, then you have the right to file a complaint with Rospotrebnadzor or similar organizations of this profile. To file a complaint you will need: a check for refueling; the gas cylinder itself, for examination; statement in due form. Most often, organizations complete such matters peacefully and quickly enough.

If soot has formed on your stove, then you should act on a certain algorithm.

  1. Try moving the bottle or plate to another place in the room.
  2. Then you should contact the organization where the cylinder was bought or refilled so that they try to explain the reason for the appearance of such a huge amount of sulfur.
  3. If the organization does not make contact, write a complaint in order to restore justice and receive material compensation for damaged property.
  4. If your comrades bought gas from this organization, find out from them if their gas stove smokes. A friendly atmosphere is much better and more enjoyable than a trial.
  5. Before filing complaints with the appropriate authorities, be sure to check the correctness of the setting of your gas equipment.

Incorrect gas stove setting

Notice that the burner in the stove was smoky? This means that the outlet pressure is higher than the set norm. If you want to learn more about the inside of a burner, then you should find out the following important information.

If in your daily life an electric stove of a modern assembly, rather than the old one, left over from the Soviet era, then it is equipped with interchangeable nozzles in two versions, with different diameters. And the burners consist of the following components:

  1. The divider, which serves to distribute the gas throughout the burner area evenly and without interruption. In appearance, it resembles a sleeve made by means of a flange, cut along a common perimeter.
  2. The divider cover is made of stainless steel and has the appearance of a rounded plate. It is located on top of the divider.
  3. Most often, the designs of modern stoves are complemented by an electric ignition candle. It is located on the side of the divider. The process is as follows: a spark becomes a signal to ignition, and electricity is ignited using gas fuel. There is a temperature sensor near the candle. It was delivered to assist in the operation of the stove. It determines whether the gas is burning or not. If the gas suddenly goes out, a special electromechanical device designed to control the flow of all types of liquids and gases, which stops the flow of fuel, which helps to prevent fire.
  4. The jet is located under the divider. It is presented in the form of a bolt, which is pierced through an axial hole. If the stove is smoked, then this hole becomes extremely large. On the nozzle is a yellow part made on the basis of brass and bronze. The nozzle ensures safe operation and durability of the plate.

Modification or absence of a plate nozzle

In today's world, gas stoves are equipped with two samples of jets. But not without problems. Namely, that the construction of the stove is smoked as soon as it is transferred from the main gas pipeline to bottled gas. A modern gas stove must also include a socket wrench.

In order to avoid uneven entry of the nozzle, make sure that the diameter of the hole is 0.8 millimeters. Otherwise, a gas leak may occur. Such a problem, in turn, will lead to a gas explosion and the house will "fly" into the air. Only a professional should perform similar work to replace the jets. It requires all the necessary skills and increased attention to the process in order to avoid the tragic consequences. And, of course, the quality of work should be at the highest level.

Unfortunately, the second set of nozzles for the gas stove is missing? There is no way to purchase the necessary parts yourself? It doesn’t matter. You can do it all yourself. To do this, you need: a soldering iron, a set of sewing needles of different sizes and an alloy for soldering.

The solder will lie tightly on the metal in the event that the oxide layer comes off the multicomponent alloy. But do not rush with the use of rosin. To begin with, wipe the nozzle with alcohol (alcohol wipe). Next, rosin the hole itself and the hat. Accordingly, the oxide film is removed. Apply a drop of solder alloy. The hole will soon be filled with tin.

Using sandpaper, a drop of alloy is compared to one level with a hat. Then we select a small sewing needle and pierce a hole. With a larger needle, we form a hole up to 0.5 millimeters. For measurement, you can use a universal tool designed for high-precision measurements of external and internal dimensions (vernier caliper). Twist the nozzle back. We test gas fuel. If the gas flame is blue, without yellow reeds and does not smoke, then the result corresponds to the descriptions declared in the requirements. We proceed to the second jet. We take it out, and with the help of needles we enlarge the hole. Check the flow of gas every 0.1 millimeters.

Important! The hole should be parallel to the axis of the nozzle. Otherwise, gas will accumulate, which will provoke an explosion of gas fuel. After replacing the nozzles, it is necessary to observe the stove and the nature of the outgoing gas.

In old gas stoves, unfortunately, there is no possibility of replacing the jets. But on the other hand, there is a mechanism for regulating and controlling the strength of the flow of incoming gas fuel. You can try to configure the mechanism in the right way.

Adjustment takes place by turning the tap, as the gas bottle is equipped with a tapered valve. Therefore, opening it completely is not required.

Self-fix the problem

Before starting work, make sure that the gas cylinder is completely empty. Avoid unnecessary actions in relation to the conical crane. Since it is installed under heating, we use a construction machine for drying. You can use a burner, but the risk of a balloon explosion increases several times. Increase the temperature of the valve. Under the influence of heat, the thread moves very simply. We replace the old crane with a new one. First, screw the part as much as possible, then heat it with known devices and tighten it until it stops.

It is easy to guess that in a gas cylinder, after some time, the product of condensation of the vaporous state of liquids occurs. The resulting substance is disposed of in specialized places, away from large crowds. However, without violating the law on environmental pollution.

When repairing and replacing gas stove parts, do not use plumbing equipment. It is not compatible with electrical models of kitchen equipment. The explosion will occur, it would seem, for no particular reason. But the true reason is the incompatibility of the installed parts.

What should I do if a gas stove smokes? First of all, you should make a call to number 04. Specialists will tell you the correct numbers and give advice on the initial actions.

If the reason for smoking is the incorrect installation of the nozzle or other parts, you can fix everything yourself. But it is possible only on condition that all safety rules are observed. The following important aspects should be highlighted:

  1. Modern plate models are equipped with two jets. They, in turn, are of different diameters. This is done so that you can switch a one-time stove from the central gas system to a gas cylinder. The general system requires a nozzle with a diameter of one millimeter, but the cylinder - 0.8 millimeters. The switching process can be done independently if both nozzles are included.
  2. If you replace the jets yourself, it is possible that their position will deviate by several degrees from the norm. As a result, the gas will not be supplied at full strength, and the distribution will become uneven. Such violations will lead to a gas fuel explosion. Therefore, when replacing parts of a gas stove yourself, you should do this carefully and follow all safety requirements.

Regardless of the complexity of the work performed, their independent implementation increases the risk of problems. All actions must be thought out in advance and performed carefully.
