What is ice TV

The equipment and its manufacturers are improving every year, it can not do without new products in the camp of TV receivers. A huge assortment of LED panels from various companies is presented on the market, today these are the most popular models. You can easily choose both a budget and an expensive option with lots of additional features. However, few people know where this technology came from and what advantages it has.

What is an LED TV?

LED TV - TV receiver with LCD screen. LCD monitors no longer surprise anyone, because it is unclear what is so special about LED. The design is different in that it is equipped with LED backlighting instead of the usual fluorescent lamps. The name appeared as a result of Korean products by Samsung. The global manufacturer has set certain limits, and LED TV has taken root. In other words, this is a backlit LCD TV.

LCD TV receivers are equipped with fluorescent lamps, therefore, they have characteristic disadvantages. Replacing bulbs with LEDs solved a number of these problems. In addition, thanks to this, televisions have become thinner and consume less energy.

The essence of LED technology

LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a technology that allows you to receive light radiation when connecting the cathode and semiconductor. It, in turn, is connected to the anode - electrons interact with photon radiation. So the light appears.

Today, many devices are produced that differ in different parameters: the type of LEDs and the arrangement.

The following types are distinguished by the color of the lamps:

  • mono-colored (White) - the most budget option, which has no shortcomings;
  • multi-colored (RGB LED): increased number of halftones, increased brightness. Due to this, it consumes more energy, because it requires a powerful processor;
  • mixed (blue LEDs, complemented by a film with two primary colors: red and green). Significantly underestimated electricity consumption, but low contrast.

There are two types of layout - behind the LCD-matrix and direct backlight. The latter has a slight drawback, in some models, gaps are noticeable.

It is worth noting that the more advanced OLED display technology, unlike the older brother, does not pass radiation from the LEDs through the LCD panel. Instead, conducting contact through a variety of small individual organic LEDs. They are made of organic polymers and capable of specific dimming or radiation.

Positive points, environmental friendliness

Both ICE and OLED technologies have acquired both many supporters and opponents. However, its advantages are undeniable, especially in comparison with other technologies.

The benefits are as follows:

  1. High resistance to external influences. In other words, the technology is able to withstand harsh conditions of use. Vibration, small sliding shocks, water entering the body, various temperature conditions and any pressure are not afraid of her. But this should not be allowed.
  2. Low power consumption. This parameter allows LED models to prevail on the market, since a TV with such technology consumes 10 times less than a conventional device. In addition, there is a high efficiency.
  3. Durability (not least because of resistance to impact). ICE is at least 70 times more effective than conventional incandescent lamps, and can also work 2 times longer than lamps with a cold cathode. LED backlight can work up to 80 thousand hours.

The main plus is worthy of separate consideration - environmental friendliness. LEDs do not contain harmful compounds that are harmful to nature and the user.

Reference! Fluorescent lamps and CCFL contain mercury. This element tends to accumulate in the environment and the human body when inhaled. Any breakdown will lead to leakage, which can cause intoxication. In addition, the disposal of such models is difficult. That is why LED technology is recognized as the safest for TVs.
