TV screen darkened

Once upon a time, televisions were notable for unstable operation and limited service life. But time goes on, and with the invention of new technologies, LCD TVs become more resistant to inappropriate conditions and more durable. But even newer devices with a guarantee can have problems. One of the most common among them is the darkening of the screen.

What to do if the TV screen darkens

If the image on the TV has become unusually dark, or has disappeared altogether, then most likely there is a malfunction in the monitor and its components. First of all, you need to find the cause of the malfunction and find out which part is damaged. To do this, pay attention to the status of the device.

Why the TV screen is getting dark - possible reasons

With the same symptom, the reasons for the incorrect display of colors on the TV can be different, one or more at once. It is not easy to identify them, but you can, if you are careful and follow the instructions outlined here to solve the problem.

Power Supply

This is one of the most important parts for the TV, and its malfunction can lead to larger problems than darkening the screen. Before checking this part from the TV, you need to completely turn it off and unplug the plug. Only then can you begin to inspect the power supply. If at first glance at a circuit with contacts, black scorched areas or burnt holes are struck in the eyes, then this means that the cause of the problem lies precisely in the power supply, and you need to contact a specialist for help. Swollen barrels of capacitors speak of the same result (if the top is flat, then everything is fine). In some cases, you will need to replace only a small portion of the board, but most often you need to change the entire circuit.

Video amplifier

It is much easier to analyze the damage to this part: just go to the TV image settings and try to change the brightness. If the lighting does not change even when the brightness points opposite to each other change, then the video amplifier has deteriorated. In this case, the part from the amplifier is subject to replacement, rarely the whole.

Matrix backlight

The matrix is a kind of binding substance between the outer glass and the screen itself in an LCD TV or monitor. Much depends on it - the radiation force coming from the screen, the sharpness of the textures, sharpness, tilt angle, etc. You can check its status if you put a flashlight on the TV when it is turned on. If the image appears in the highlighted area in the form in which the viewer expects to see it, then yes, the problem is in the matrix. Do not poke around in it yourself, it is better to consult a specialist.

T-con

T-con is the binder between the matrix and the monitor, this board is responsible for the accuracy of information transfer, and it can be blamed for any small or large distortion of the picture. Some televisions provide the user with the opportunity to check the health of this part by displaying an image on the screen that, if distorted, can indicate a board breakdown.

Usually, in case of problems with the T-con, it is enough to replace it, but in some cases it is not her fault, but the LVDS cable, on which the contacts are oxidized and do not transmit the signal. It will also be prevented from inspecting and, if necessary, brushing off excess with an eraser or knife. It is important not to overdo it, because the microcircuits are very fragile and can not withstand too much impact.
