Printer test

Once upon a time there is certainly a need to compile a profile and check the print quality of a particular printer. Of course, you can print various photos and peer into the transitions of different colors, but it is much easier to use special test pages for this.

What is a printer test?

There are various test pages that allow you to check the device:

  • color test page;
  • text for diagnosing color devices;
  • face skin color check page;
  • mixed test for diagnosing color and black and white prints;
  • to determine gray shades;
  • page for diagnosing print head alignment in the printer;
  • black and white test page;
  • a three-color printout of a page for determining the quality of colors in a three-color range;
  • a completely black page for cleaning the nozzles of a black print head or determining the quality of the fill for black and white printers.

Why do I need a test on a color printer

During device setup and performance testing, as a rule, the usual test page ("Printers and Faxes" - "Test Page") is enough.

But in the case of inkjet equipment, especially if this device is not new and the ink in the nozzles of the head is probably slightly dried up, a more color printout may be needed, which shows how each color is printed individually in a particular line.

How to use a printer test

Unions in the field of printing and repair of devices are called special elements on the print head of the equipment. They are also often called nozzles. All nozzles "shoot" ink at the right time. If one or several nozzles are dirty or broken, the final printing of the sheet can be done with spaces - "stripes". The number of nozzles on a cartridge or printhead can be more than 100 pieces (in some cases, more than 1000), taking into account the purpose of the printer.

Important! Nozzle testing is a device test printed on a sheet and showing the number of working and non-working nozzles.

Why nozzle testing is required - by printing a test page, you can immediately see which colors are used, which are printed with gaps, and in what order the ink flows into the head. During problems with the quality of the printed text, first you need to print a nozzle test page, comparing it with the print standard.

To perform a nozzle test on devices, you need to do the following:

  • go to the "Start" menu, find the "Control Panel" tab and go to "Printer Properties" or "Printers and Faxes", taking into account the installed OS. A window will appear indicating the installed device;
  • if the equipment is turned on and connected to a PC, its shortcut will be brightly lit, unlike other unconnected printers. Next, right-click on the connected device and select "Printing Preferences";
  • in the new window you need to find the "Service" tab and click on it;
  • in the tab "Service" you need to find the menu "Check nozzles", read the description of this function and click on this item;
  • in a new window, you need to read the information, fulfill the conditions specified in it and click "Print".
  • another new window will appear, where the nozzle printing standard for a specific device model and nozzle testing with a probable problem (with a certain number of contaminated nozzles), as well as the “Ready” and “Clear” operating modes of the device, will be shown.

If the text image matches the standard (“Good” is indicated), accordingly, all nozzles work in normal mode and the device will give high-quality text, if there are spaces during the test mode, then cleaning will be required, for which you need to press the “Clear” key.

Important! It is not advisable to perform more than two cleanings in a row, as you can hammer in the cleanup counter and thus create a lot of problems. This is most often the case with Epson equipment. After several cleanings, it is best to let the printer stand still for 2-3 hours, then print the verification document again and, as a rule, it is obtained in accordance with the standard, if this did not happen, then you need to find a problem in the ink when feeding or directly in the device .

Most often, it is possible to check nozzles without a PC, by pressing a certain key combination on the device’s dashboard.

When summing up, it is necessary to focus on the demand for functions. Typically, multifunction devices are used for printing, after - photocopies and scanning (fax mode in this case is not considered). In all modes, you need to separately evaluate the quality of the text and picture. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the resistance of ink to moisture and excretion using a marker.
